Since my grandson, Alex, is a huge Harry Potter fan, I decided to recreate Dumbledore's phoenix, Fawkes, as he goes up in flames. I couldn't find any design that I liked until I saw this one on the Internet. I e-mailed Levi at Spray Paint Stencils, and he was kind enough to let me use it. I altered it slightly for fabric and fused all the pieces. After quilting down the edges with matching cotton thread, I used yellow, orange, and red metallic threads to create the flame effect. Alex named his phoenix Forks.
